Even the (few) people I’ve talked to who hated the movie said that this moment was sheer brilliance.  It is so significant, so weighty, it is damn near the most important thing that happens in the entirety of “The Hobbit” and you FEEL it, you feel how momentous this is.  Bilbo’s sparing of Gollum’s life is not only an important plot point but it is a key character beat for Bilbo - for the first time in his life he has this kind of power, and what he chooses here to do with it defines him.

And the level of performance achieved here by Martin with no dialogue, and by Serkis THROUGH PIXELS, is astonishing.

This moment is worth the entire film.

All the awards. You can either love it or hate it but the whole Riddles in the Dark scene is PERFECTION. This particular moment especially. I forgive any shortcomings of The Hobbit for this scene alone.

So apparently Reapersun has started to see a little back lash for her Hobbit art. This, on the heels of the Fawn!lock incident, and all the whispers of fandom war brewing on the horizon has driven me to throwing my 2 cents in. THAT’S RIGHT! YOU DROVE ME TO THIS! 

So I’m a fan of Sherlock. But, I’m also a fan of The Lord of the Rings and Star Trek, and guess what? I want crossovers!

CROSSOVER EVERYTHING!  

No I’m deadly serious here, I want to see the fan art and I want to read the fics!

I want to see what Happens when BBC Sherlock meets Elementary Sherlock!

I want to see Johnbo and Smauglock get it on!

I want to see if Mccoy tries to bone Dr Watson and Vulcan!Sherlock loses his cool “DON’T YOU EVER TOUCH MY T’HY’LA AGAIN!” 

I want to see more of John and Sherlock as companions! 

I  want to see Dean and Sherlock get into an argument even though I don’t even watch that show! 

I want to see Sherlock being brought into the consult for SHEILD. 

I WANT IT ALL! 

Listen friends, it’s not an assault on your poor pure little fandoms and it’s not sacrilege. It’s ok to love multiple fandoms and it’s ok to want them to mesh. Instead of hating think of the possibilites and spread the love! 

Don’t like crossover fan work? Too bad. Deal with it.
